Listeners

I ask the question, "Source, is there anything you want me to tell the group tonight?" The answer written with my non-dominent hand:

"Yes, tell them to have high hopes, to know/remember who they are. Exatly this is the reason you're joined together as planned. You are Listeners, guided by promise. Promise of what's the most extra-o-dinary conglomerate of your time - Lifetime. Sing, Strut, Play - Allow. It is already so."

A Randon Walk

When I first arrived in Los Angeles in 1996 from a 2 year sabbatical traveling the world, I was struck by the madness that is living in a big city. It was particularly overwhelming as I had spent considerable time in extreme wilderness situations where I had educated my eye to appreciate the beauty of Mother Nature. But living here, as a consequence, blunted were my perception of her finesses in this new found city life.

I could not see and I struggled daily with my perceived absence of her - the concrete, the noise, the acrid smells of car fumes and chemicals, the shabby, the dirt and the forgotten left on the sidewalk like unwanted trash. Furthermore, with what seems like so much anger all around me and artificial time eroding the spaces between life's articulation, I thought Nature had obviously abandoned me in this lost cause that is the City of Angels.

My life felt really empty without her seductive splendor enfolding me. As I started to despair, a chance encounter, as so often happens, sent me a message from Socrates reminding me that walking was the natural pace of thought.

So I started to walk and a whole new world of possibilities opened up - I began to hear the sing-song chatter of migrating birds, from the parrot to the humming bird, I noticed the tropical greens and exotic colors of the flowers in every landscaped garden, the rich abundance of wildlife from skunks, raccoons and possums to coyotes, mountain lions and deer. I was simply stunned by the rich diversity of life around me, accomplices to nature's design living invisibly in every oasis across this expansive concrete desert.

It was a truly remarkable revelation. I lost my despair - it was no longer relevant as I returned to the Source that is always there. I wrote this to celebrate my joy:

A Random Walk

I savor the air its welcome freshness, the light a sharp intrusion into the depths of casual thought. Trees, green with the expectation of Nature's harmony, are castaways in a sea of concrete boulevards chaperoning cars heavy with the burden of impatience.
Neon signs, advertising posters, distant sirens and overhead helicopters.
Behold the state of maligned freedoms.

Waking cities sleep
Unaware in ignorance
Nature's simple ways

My mind fades from the reality of life's surround as I retreat into the sanctuary of random thought. Each step, the swing of the pendulum, captivates hypnotic serenades
locked away in solitary.

Be not, ached soul
Silenced by frantic deaths
Let Toa, Toa Te - be

The bird, the squirrel
In a salad bowl of greens
Aware, to be real

Truth falters for one's punctual reality is the steady constraint of a tethered mind.

Participation
At home in Reality
Transformation, O!

Participation
Celebrate the Mystery
Transformation, O!

Behold dancing truths
Horizons of limitless skies
A singular me

It is getting dark, this walk has run itself out, my front door a welcome sight.
I wonder how many fish there are in the sea?

Walk the Source

I have a dream.....

It is very early in the morning, not quite 4 am, and I am inspired to write here. I know that we are all getting together on Friday night at our house, but I wanted to connect with all of you this early morn.

I have had a dream about Source....and David too. And there are other people in our group having dreams about others within the group. And though some of them are seemingly innocent and may appear disjointed, at best....I think that some of our direction is and will be coming in dream form. So I am requesting that whatever dreams or premonitions or visions or ANYTHING....lets document it here for all to see/hear/feel.

I had a dream several days ago that we were all at some gala/celebration/award ceremony or something. We all were dressed up and circulating around the room. An extremely happy and festive occasion. David and I were talking with a couple and one of them asked David and I, "So what, now all of you are wealthy?" And in my head in the dream I am thinking "Oh my God are we ever!". But I thought for a moment and replied, "I guess that would depend on your definition of wealthy. Yes we are....but we were all wealthy beyond measure BEFORE all of this occurred."

That was it. I loved the feeling of this dream. It was so real that for a nano second when I woke up, I had to sort if it had really happened or was it a dream. :)

David had a dream about the Source TV as well. But I am going to let him write here and tell you about it. Can you do that honey? I don't want to put any spin on it whatsoever, it was your dream afterall.

Lee had a dream about David and I that I would like her to share as well. Will you do that sweetie?

Love to you all.

Vision Quest

In my late 20's, I went on a Vision Quest in Austin, TX; a Native American ritual. It was truly amazing how little time it takes to become re-connected to Mother Earth and Father Sky. Basically an extended week-end is all it took, but I will admit, it was anything but a typical week-end. The Native American stories told by Thunder and Horse around the campfire were mesmerizing alone. I began to understand how deeply rooted the connection is between Native Americans and Spirit. Drumming and chanting around the campfire sent me spinning deep within myself. This was very much an individual journey.

But my story doesn't start there. There was much preparation before arriving on the land. The tradition involves making prayer ties -77 in fact -that were placed around my "blanket". You see, this experience is to discover your vision for the year, thus you are left outside on your blanket alone, without food or water for 24 hours. The prayer ties surrounded my blanket for protection during the quest. There are very specific instructions for prayer ties; start with small squares of cotton cloth in seven colors and long strings. Take a pinch of tobacco (one of the Native Americans' four sacreds), make a prayer, place the tobacco in the cloth, making a small pouch and secure it with the string. Not breaking the string, continue to the next prayer tie. I also made a large prayer tie called a Waluta (I'm not sure of the correct spelling) which was hung from a tree near my blanket. The Waluta includes a long piece of red cloth (that blew in the wind), a feather from a red tail hawk and an abalone shell.

An interesting note: If a woman is on "moontime" (on her period), she cannot vision on the blanket. A woman is considered too energetically powerful during her cycle to be alone on the blanket. So she visions at a Moon Lodge. As this was not my experience, I don't know much about the Moon Lodge.

The blanket was a beautiful experience for me. There were the sounds of the night; the crickets and the frogs...oh, the magic of it all. At one point, I saw/dreamed/visioned a lioness. She walked over to my blanket and "joined" me. I never saw her leave. I also have a very fond memory of the three women that would come to check on me, from time to time. In the night, it was so dark and they needed light to make their trek up to my blanket on the hill. I'm sure they had flashlights, but in my mind, they had old-time oil lanterns that they held in front of them as they walked. I also believe that they had on bonnets like the early pioneers would wear, as well. Maybe a former life?

Perception is fluid, isn't it?

This was and is a sacred experience burned in my memory. I still find myself honoring the four directions; North, South, East, West and hearing whispers of the elders in the wind.

In the Flow

Jeff and I receive a number of invitations on a weekly basis to attend various groups' meetings and networking functions. An e-mail invitation came announcing a gathering last Tuesday night in which a Tibetan Lama would be speaking. To my knowledge, this group is not spiritual in nature, but the invitation said "Enlightenment Division." Hummmm. We were both intrigued.

On the day of the event, Inaugeration Day, Jeff held up the paper e-vite and said he really wanted to go. As it was 5 pm, he could no longer RSVP on-line. He said that we will just go and we will be able to get in. We arrive at Lavo, the club at Palazzo where the event is to be held and the ever-so-large bouncers ask us our intentions. Jeff said that we were attending this event. It was like in the movie "Star Wars" when Obi One Kenobi waves his hand in front of the stranger and says, "You don't need to bother with this one." In a trance, the bouncer asked for our right wrist to stamp it. We arrived 45 minutes late and thought the Lama would be in full swing by then, however he had not arrived. We got a drink from the bar, turned around and there was the Lama and his entourage walking in.

The group settled at a table/sofa area, whereas most of the networking group was outside on the terrace. We approached a gentleman with the entourage, who seemed to be in charge, and asked if we would have the opportunity to speak to the Lama. He asked if we had any connection with Tibet and then noticed my jade necklace in the shape of the mystic knot. He said, "Oh, I see you do." He immediately introduced us to the Lama, His Eminence The Fourth Trungram Gyaltrul Rinpoche. With our hands in prayer position, we all bowed. He was incredibly gracious and the energy was abundent. At that time, we also showed the him the Tibetan Dzi bead braclets that Jeff and I wear. After some conversation, he asked if he could bless our Dzi beads. "Of course," we said. He touched the beads, said a prayer and gently blew his breath on the beads.

Jeff and I felt complete and didn't want to monopolize his time, so we ventured out onto the terrace. There were quite a few people there, networking, smoking cigars/hookahs and generally enjoying themselves. I am not certain if they didn't know that the Lama was just inside, if they had no interest or if they were just enjoying what they were doing. It doesn't matter because each of us comes to our own introspection and spirituality in our own time, the perfect time, and in our own way.

Law of attraction brought us back inside, where the Lama was sitting with no one approaching him. The gentleman we met earlier came up to us and said, "How often do you get to sit and talk to a Lama? Please sit and talk with him, if you like." So, I sat next to him on the sofa and Jeff sat across from us, within conversation range and we had an even more in depth conversation. It was lovely; He exuded peace. After some time, a woman with his group asked if we would like to be blessed again with white scarves. So, she placed the scarves on our hands in prayer position, the Lama took each scarf, tied a special knot for additional blessings and placed them around our necks. We left the club shortly thereafter, giddy with delight and appreciative of the special gifts we received. The whole evening, it was as if we were walking among the population, but moving within the spiritual realm. How extraordinary!

Iconoclasts

There is a television program on Sundance Channel that I find extremely interesting called "Iconoclasts". I particularly like the way that they film the program. It is an interview segment, but in a non-interview format. It involves two celebrities, in unreleated fields, who casually interview each other. I love that they always seem to find the "heart" of things. Here is a snippit from a few of the episodes: http://www.sundancechannel.com/iconoclasts#/videos. A new episode is scheduled for 9 pm this evening (Channel 307 for Cox Cable users) featuring Bill Maher & Clive Davis, if you are available.

Hidden Power

I share a terrific little story from Danish mythology told to me by a Danish explorer I met in the rain forests of Sumatra, Indonesia in 1996:

Many years ago, at a time where distant memories fade, the Gods and Man walked the Earth together, side by side as equals. They shared the same powers but the Gods were disappointed. Man's pride and immodesty saddened them so, as he showed no humility at being their equal.

So the Gods got together to discuss Man's transgressions and decided to strip him of his powers. But where to hide them so that Man would never find them unless he rediscovers his humility?

They discussed the issue over many moons - w
hat should they do; where to hide them?

One suggested at the top of the highest mountain, another suggested at the bottom of the deepest sea , one suggested on the dark side of the moon or even hidden away behind the stars but they could not agree because they all knew that Man would, one day, reach these far away places.

After much deliberation and searching, the Gods finally decided on the perfect place - they would hide Man's power inside each individual person. The Gods knew that Man's pride and immodesty would never allow him to look inside of himself for his true powers.

The first step on the road to enlightenment requires humility.

Endless Net of Threads

"There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe. The horizontal threads are in space. The vertical threads are in time. At every crossing of the threads, there is an individual. And every individual is a crystal bead. And every crystal bead reflects not only the light from every other crystal in the net, but also every other reflection throughout the entire universe."

Soothing Sounds

David and I went to the Phil Jones vibrational sound seminar on Sunday at the church. Bren and Jeff were there as well. Christine too, of course. I loved the Didgi....in fact Jeff is bound to be a master, if only he would purchase one!!

But I, on the other hand, fell in love with the first instrument he played and chanted/sang with...the Shruti Box. I began to cry immediately, there was something sooooo familiar about the sound and the chanting.

I would love for you to check out this Shruti Box and Hang Drum demonstration on YouTube. Amazing.

To A New Future

Today, with the inauguration of Barack H. Obama as the new President of the United States, I witnessed an historical moment in the maturation of this young country. It was inspirational to say the least, restoring my personal belief in America, what it stands for and what it strives to be.

During the past 40 years, we have witnessed the degradation of core values to the type of political and corporate rhetoric that I have no hesitation in qualifying in the most critical of terms - a dreadfully shallow bill of goods, sold to the American public and the Peoples of the world in the name of a hijacked democracy. The abuse of power, the culture of deceit, the neglect of global responsibilities coupled with the corruption of corporate, political and personal integrity now inherent in The Establishment has led the world to a crossroads whose threshold our future can ill afford to cross. And if we were ever to do so, history would look back at our generation's guardianship with the shameful accusation of gross negligence, finding us guilty of crimes against humanity for having neither the courage nor the desire to take a stand for change.

Today, we have expressed our intent in the most public, resonant and emphatic manner.

Our new found voice is that of a man that breaks from tradition - I hope beyond hope of the emergence of a new politico stereotype - with his confident wisdom, his punctual eloquence, his generous intelligence, his equanimity and his acute compassion.

Commentators already want to compare him to JF Kennedy but I venture to disagree. President Obama has the courage to stand on his own, to walk his own uncharted path with the collaboration of his peers, by his example and his commitment to a better future. And yet, if comparison must be made, I draw upon the inspiration of Robert Kennedy, whose speech at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles remains America's political high water mark notwithstanding that his subsequent assassination robbed history of its American Dream.

I trust that our history will not repeat itself, and yet I fear that we live in a world that has long lost its innocence. I simply hope that through our choice, we, the people, have empowered this man to lay down the foundations for the America of the 21st Century that engages the new world community from a place of love and not hatred, courage and not fear. The last 8 years saw the 20th Century end on catastrophic terms. Yet it was a necessary misery for we have now come to realize that the status-quo is no longer sustainable under current preponderances, that we cannot look to the future with any confidence while still exploiting the ideas of the past - we must change and evolve in order for everybody of the world to prosper in a peaceful and enlightened future.

The contributions of the last 8 years have unequivocally taught us these simple truths. So, it is begrudgingly that I thank the outgoing President for his incompetence, his greed, his cruelty and his pride for making our new future a reality. Cynicism always leaves a bitter taste but I worry not as I am also celebrating. In time, history will define this tragic legacy against the new future we now possess for ourselves, our children and the community of peoples around the world. It is finally time to give back to the world its American Dream.

The journey will not be easy; in fact, it will almost certainly be terribly hard, fraught with many dangers and torn apart by conflicting fears for the old ways are ignorant and stubborn - our strength and determination will come from simply remembering that we are tenacious and enlightened in our objectives as we implement lasting change. This is a new world that we are forging for ourselves, one that captures the reflection of our dreams and aspirations - we should all take pride in the possibilities before us and the challenges we now face. Let us be the prism through which to realize this change.

Finally and perhaps not surprisingly, it is not lost upon me the synchronistic poetry of the birth of this new era with the expression of our own nascent ideas. I anticipate that we too will be often challenged during our journey, no doubt wonder how we can move forward in our current financial situation, maybe even despair at our progress as we strive to realize our possibilities at Source Network. Let us take heart in the knowledge that the journey is the goal and as we endeavor to give our finest, we will surely come to recognize just how fortunate we truly are - the example and courage of our new president will be an inspiration indeed.

Grateful

Lead me. Move me. Let me be open and aware and present.

Noreen...your dream, how wonderful and thrilling. And Emergence See....I am in love with that. You have a gift.

Brenda....your piece on meditation is so very inspiring. Thank you for the message and the lesson. You have a gift.

Didier....I LOVE the photo and the declaration. Such eloquence...both speaking and writing. You have a gift.

Vhan....I cannot get your words out of my head. While listening to the song that Brenda was instructed to play, and it resounded within you...and suddenly there was only ONE energy in the room. Powerful. You have a gift.

We have only begun.

The gifts are pouring in. And the lessons are being uncovered. I am simply asking myself to be a willing vessel.....to be open....and patient....and so very grateful...and am asking for more.

People get ready, there's a train a comin. Pickin up passengers from coast to coast. Faith is the key, open the doors and board them. Don't need no ticket, you just thank the Source.

Like Jeff said, we will do things that we never knew we could. Gifted as well.

Lee and Christine...your open willingness to embrace this amazed me. OH SO MANY GIFTS!!

David, my David. That you can wrap your analytical mind around something so airy....you never cease to amaze me. Gift.

And all of our collective gifts will attract more of what we have been asked to do. And that, to me, is simply to be open and receive. The ultimate in accepting the Law of Attraction at it's highest form.

Breathe.

Loving all of you so much. xoxo Wendy

Meditation

I love waking up before the sunrise. I don't always make it that early, but when I do, I so enjoy this sacred time. For me, as the horizon begins to turn a buttery gold, it represents hope. I can use this day for whatever I want; the truth is, some days this means accomplishing tasks, but my favorite days are ones where I move through the day "being" as opposed to "doing".

This usually begins with my 45 minute meditation. I learned to meditate at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, California. I use a primordial sound mantra which was given to me. It is based on the exact time, date and location of my birth. I was instructed to never share my mantra with anyone. I believe this is to keep the practice internalized. For those of you who do not have a mantra, you might try "So-Hum". "So" would be said to yourself on your inhalation and "Hum" would be said to yourself on your exhalation. The sounds just seem to fit perfectly as your chest rises and falls with each breath. Meditation is about stopping your thoughts. It is the ultimate "being". Of course, a thought will come, so you simply bring yourself back to your mantra, letting the thought melt away. Soon, you will find moments where you are simply "gone"...No thought, no manta, nothing. Chopra describes this as slipping into the Gap. The Gap is the field of infinite possibilities. This is a very, very good place to be. It is where resistance is released. It is where stress is released. It is about connecting with your higher self. Then, you will have a thought and you simply bring yourself back to your mantra. This is just fine. You will slip into the Gap a number of times during a meditation.

As you can see, there is a rhythm to your level of consciousness during mediation. But as you spend more time in meditation, you will spend more and more time in the Gap. It is very important to let your meditation be whatever it is. For example, if you fall asleep, it just means that the body is tired. If you fall asleep every time, then you are not receiving the full benefit of this relaxed state of awareness. One key is to make sure that you are sitting and not lying down. Above all, allow your meditation to be whatever it is; no judgement. For example, don't expect to receive answers that you've been looking for. You may get answers, just don't put any pressure on yourself to receive answers. Deepak Chopra says, "Don't look for answers in your meditation; Meditate and look for changes in your life."

In a subsequent class at the Chopra Center, "Synchrodestiny" I received the 5 Qualities of the Soul to add to my meditation. I would like to share these with you in case they resonate with you.

1. My Soul is a field of infinite possibilities
2. My Soul is non-local
3. My Soul is the source of my creativity, which is infinite
4. My Soul thrives in uncertainty and embraces the wisdom of uncertainty
5. My Soul co-creates with God

I blend these in somewhere in my meditation, usually in the beginning. I know them by heart, but I find that in my meditation, sometimes I cannot get through them due to the deep state of peace that I am in. And of course, that is just fine because remember the goal is to stop thought and get into the Gap. In a way, meditation is the opposite of prayer.

As I have been writing, I continue to glance out the window on the 8th floor at the progressing sunrise...the sun is not up yet, but it is like a painting, where someone has applied purple, peach and orange paint streaks across the sky. Stunning. This is a gift of rising this early.

We Are One Source

...and have come together, "once again". May we flow swift and calmly as a river. Love to you all. xoxo Wendy
